January 2013

And so it begins... the fashion start of spring and summer. As you might have noticed the bold duo black+white have made a strong come back this season, but don't forget about the basics of spring and blooming colors. Although, primarily the trend of black and white will be everywhere there will also be that pop of color so that you don't forget what season it is especially looking back to show how fashionable you have always been and will be. Look for families of corals, peach, pink, blush... yellow bright or mellow, and blue electric , baby and navy. Not feeling the mixed use of colors on your figure... then keep it clean and just stay on trend with an accessory as your color pop... bags, shoes, jewelry galore. What's more fun that accessorizing anyway ...

September/October '12... FALL is finally here

August is for Aussies...

Our featured designers this month come from two amazingly fun, hip, and AUSTRALIAN designers, Flannel and Blessed are the Meek. This season Flannel went with two bold color schemes - their usual pick of creams and neutrals + deep forest green. Blessed are the Meek created a mix of black and dark corals. A killer combination these lines are refreshing and capture easy going mentality just like their homeland outlook on life. Be sure to look out for more Aussie lines coming in this season and next.

June Picks...

...Mason added a punch of neon to her mix - think yellow, pink and orange... Raquel Allegra's linen pieces are beautiful as ever with their unique texture and style, Isabel Marant brought back her famous low heel linen boot but also added a hidden wedge open toe bootie - contrasting ideas I know but the unique style fits her famous "look" as always, Yosi Samra ballet flats are basically cute slippers for the outdoors/outfits you wear when you're not feeling a flip-flop (or your haven't-had-a-pedi-yet moment),  last but not least are the jeans that complete most effortless looks - skinny+crop+color from Seven for all Mankind - this cut makes for a great summer jean or pant, perfect for any heel or flat, long or short top.

april showers bring may florals....

...Florals are not too surprising for spring and summer fashion but this year the prints and floral patterns seem to be more beautiful than usual...and on every type of clothing possible! Tops, dresses, skirts, and even denim... 90's fashion comes to mind - but this season its way more sophisticated than those bold dark colors or overbearing head-to-toe pastels we remember... Think soft florals- more hippie-esc - paired with neutrals. As always, neutrals will come into Katia's fashion mind and style but in all honestly it works with brights and it works with prints. It softens and matures the outfit while still being stylish and on trend. So this season be adventurous and try out something new - no need to go overboard but you might be surprised at the fun you'll have trying out these trends.. a bit a color and a pattern or two will brighten up your summer wardrobe and make you feel oh so spring-y...

MARCH ( strut ) into SPRING...

This season we have been graced with lace -

            - fine touches of detail make it all the more desirable

Onto February…

It has almost come and gone…wasn’t too thrilling right? Just the newest collections for Fall from every fashion designer are debuted, the one and only celebration of Saint Valentine, then the “holiday” recognized as Presidents Day… to name a few. We are still in a mixed emotion about what season we are in and what season we should be wearing but luckily the stores are still receiving new merchandise- Katia sure is. Most European lines ship in this Jan. through Mar. window that allows an exciting little preview every month. It is beginning to look like colorful spring and summer but don’t worry – we have figured it out for you. Just by adding a bit of color you can feel fresh, new, and up to date. Mix that bit with mostly neutrals and you can still look elegant and put together as you always do… Think blues, corals, and yellows with greys and camels and beiges.

ways to work with color this season...

January, January, January.......Pre-Spring

Carven, Isabel, Twinset, Helmut, Haute Hippie, and MIH, have all rolled in recently with their new "pre-spring" looks. Pre-spring? You ask, what season is this.... it's a new name for deliveries in January. Although it's not spring yet and the holidays are over, and most resort going has come to an end we must declare this month a season - the designers thought. SO it is - Pre-Spring. Honestly I have started to fully enjoy these "new" seasons the fashion world has created. First of all, I have always loved resort anything - clothing, bags, and especially SHOES. Goodness, the shoes that come in for resort couldn't be any cuter! Half the time they are booties, boots, and pumps that you would have loved to have in the fall but contemplate buying since you should move forward into spring/summer shoes. BUT sometimes you must just admit that although you may not live in freezing temps like the east coast and most of Europe - you do need them. You WILL wear them next season... right? This leads us to pre-spring as the next new season to lust after. The items that arrive are just a preview for what's to come and they do help with that transitional time of year when let's face you become a little clueless as what to wear...fall...spring.... nope - Pre-Spring.

Fall 2011 words of wisdom....

I feel as though I wished for a website and my fairy godmother made it happen. Please join me in celebrating Katia's vision for an online boutique. It has been made possible by my sweet, soulful daughter Katie, who without her endless hours of devotion this would have never been accomplished.

With that said, let me guide you easily into Fall of 2011. As many of you close to me know..I am all "about the outfit"... I firmly believe Fringe is Fabulous this season, and my pick would be Isabel Marant suede and leather fringe boots paired with skinny pants and a 3-dimensional knit. I also love staring at a blanket coat in some sort of tribal tribute to the Navajo graphics. You can layer it over tight knit dresses or skinny jeans and booties... And if you don't see sleeves with soft lamb on your favorite tee silhouettes don't buy it... I suggest leather sleeves on blazers, tees or knits and it is such a modern twist to the winter tee!

Anyone who has let me style them also knows how much I love my "neutrals" but this Fall even I am daring to play with some of the primary colors… Just a hint of red will make you feel sexy this season… Royal blue is regal and green is gorgeous.

Supersize your sweaters this season and stick to skinnies on the bottom. ...How great is that!!! I do love "my baggies"…

Pants are also strong. Long, wide-leg and low waist...paired with sheer lace and blazers turns those masculine pieces instantly girly…yes it's a man's world….

Leather pants… ankle length or long and flared are shown in beautiful shades of burgundy, sand, and of course… black. I have a feeling my black leather ankle pants will be a uniform. The capecoat can cover you up when it's cold outside. Think autumn colors for your jeans and for the girl who wants to rock a new trend, I suggest coated "leather like" denim from j brand or plein Sud.

I am all over the pointy toe returning to our soles… enough to make me put my stilettos back on… and ankle boots I love!!

Felt hats with feather details…What can I say… Furry pieces are beautiful and even more glamorous this season. Lovin' the leopard in accessories...

And beautiful Shearling bombers blast the chill… Beyond beautiful are the boots with fur detail…Lovvveee

As always my motto is to "take a trend and make it your own" because after all that's what keeps fashion fun!

...and remember to stay beautiful on the inside and don't take it too seriously.
Love Katia
